Before you begin
Keep your phone connected to the internet. The illustrations explain the steps rather than reproduce the app exactly; labels can vary by phone, language, and software version.
Open the Play Store
Find Play Store on your phone and open it. If the store asks you to sign in, follow Google's instructions on your phone.
If Play Store is not available on your device, check the device maker's official support. Do not install a file sent through a message as a shortcut.
Search for KakaoTalk
Use the store's search field to look for KakaoTalk. Open the app listing and check that the publisher is Kakao Corp.
Check the name and publisher together. A familiar-looking icon alone is not enough to identify the right app.
Choose Install
Tap Install and wait for the download to finish. Stay connected while the app is being installed.
If the button says Open, the app is already installed. If it says Update, you can update the existing app from the same store listing.
Open the app
Tap Open in the store, or find KakaoTalk on your phone's home screen. Read the app's prompts, then continue to the sign-up guide if you need help.

The installation is not starting. What should I check?
Check your internet connection and available phone storage. Read any message shown in the Play Store. If the problem continues, use Google Play's official help rather than downloading an installation file elsewhere.
It says Open instead of Install.
That usually means KakaoTalk is already installed. Tap Open and continue with the app's sign-in or setup instructions.
Should I enter my Google password on this website?
No. This guide never needs your Google password, Kakao password, or verification code. Follow account prompts only in the relevant official app or service.
