Before you begin

1. Find your phone's store
On an Android phone, open Play Store. On an iPhone, open App Store.
- Samsung Galaxy: use Play Store.
- Apple iPhone: use App Store.
- Make sure your phone is connected to the internet.
2. Find the right app
Search for KakaoTalk in the store. Check that the publisher or developer is Kakao Corp.
- Read the app name.
- Read the developer name.
- Do not use an installation file sent in a message.
3. Install, then open
Choose Install or Get. Follow any confirmation on your phone. When installation is finished, choose Open.
- If the app is already installed, you may see Open.
- Complete any store confirmation on your own phone.
4. Follow the app's setup
Read each setup screen in KakaoTalk. Check your phone number and complete the verification steps shown.
- Use your own phone number.
- Never share a verification code.
- If you already have an account, use the appropriate sign-in option.
5. Say hello to someone you know
Find a friend or family member. Open a conversation and send a short greeting.
- Check the person's name before sending.
- You can learn photos, calls, and other features later.
- There is no need to do everything at once.
